“South Plus” Conservation of Contemporary Art BeyondBorders: Crossroads Between Taiwan and Mexico
Date and Time: December 21th, 2024. 14:30-16:00
Location: Art Research Room, Basement Level, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts
------------------------------------------------------------
The current art poses new creative alternatives, both material and conceptual, which results in a greater complexity for its conservation-restoration in an integral way. It is from this problematic that documentation, artist-restorer collaboration, understanding of the meaning and exhaustive knowledge of the materials involved are fundamental to establish criteria and proposals for adequate intervention for its conservation. The material documentation of the work, its materiality and deterioration, as well as the dialogue with artists and curators is vital, both for its future preservation and for its exhibition in various museums and galleries.
This event invites Ana Lizeth Mata to share her observations on the artworks from Singapore Art Museum, National Gallery Singapore and KMFA featured in KMFA’s ongoing exhibition Ocean in Us: Women Artists with Southern Visions, as well as her practices in art conservation and restoration in the Mexico art scene.
*This event will be conducted in English, with Chinese translation assistance provided by museum staff.
*This event is free to attend, with a limit of 20 participants. Please register in advance on the official website.
